Ze noemden haar een huilbaby - het verhaal van Maud

They called her a crybaby - Maud's story

Part 1 - A flying start… or so we thought

This is Maud, my second sweet, mischievous daughter,
now just two years old. She is the greatest inspiration
behind Flomea Care.

After an uncertain pregnancy, Maud was finally born two weeks early. A huge weight was lifted from my shoulders once she arrived. From that moment on, I could see for myself how she was doing and decide if action was needed. And honestly? From minute one, Maud did fantastic. She cried, drank, slept, and pooped just as you'd hope for a newborn baby. We were relieved and reassured.
Our little Maud seemed to have a flying start.

But then everything changed.

After about five days, Maud started crying more and more. At first, we thought it was normal, but the crying got worse… and actually never stopped. Day in, day out, we were rocking, comforting, and hoping she would fall asleep for a bit to find some rest. But she hardly slept. Sometimes only two to three hours spread over an entire 24-hour day. The rest of the time, she cried.

As if that wasn't hard enough, her feeding also got worse. Every day Maud drank less formula. I had consciously chosen formula because I had a very positive experience with it for my first daughter. But with Maud, everything felt different. The amounts became so small that her bowel movements also decreased. At one point, she didn't have a bowel movement for ten days.

Still, I didn't immediately raise the alarm. I'm someone who doesn't go to the doctor quickly. That feeling of "I don't want to complain" was deeply ingrained. Only after a month did I go to the GP for the first time. There, I received an answer that was somewhat reassuring, but at the same time confronting:

“I don't see anything unusual; she’s probably just a colicky baby.”

I went home with mixed feelings. On the one hand, I wanted to trust what the doctor said, but on the other hand, my gut feeling kept screaming that something more was going on.

During that period, not only Maud became exhausted from crying, but I
did too. With each passing day and week, I became more tired, emotional, and frustrated. My maternal instinct grew stronger: this isn't
just a colicky baby. Something is truly wrong with her.

I just didn't know yet that this search would eventually become the foundation of something much bigger… Flomea Care.
